Voice / TTS Troubleshooting
TTS reads messages from a voice channel’s own text chat. Ordinary text channels are not the listening-mode destination.
Start or stop your messages
Section titled “Start or stop your messages”/tts action:listenUse tts in the intended voice channel’s text chat. Stop with action:stop. Personal opt-out is preserved even in administrator-enabled everyone mode.
Check permissions and connection
Section titled “Check permissions and connection”Fork needs access to the channel and supported voice connection/playback. The direct command checks View Channel, Send Messages and Attach Files for the relevant channel path. One server permits one voice connection; messages from different channels cannot play simultaneously. Empty/inaccessible channels can be skipped.
Voice selection
Section titled “Voice selection”Use the voice option’s Fish Audio workshop suggestions or a valid public voice reference. An unavailable/private voice or provider outage can prevent selection. Do not send Fish credentials in Discord.
Administrator-only settings
Section titled “Administrator-only settings”Everyone, only_me and autojoin operations require Administrator. Choose one change at a time: voice, action or autojoin. Autojoin does not erase personal opt-out.
A playback failure, provider credit issue and command refusal are different symptoms. Record the safe visible error and time; do not ask users to change network/production policy from a public troubleshooting guide.
